Overview
Smart Sewing is run by Teresa Keogh, a qualified and FETAC accredited tutor with 30 years experience in the art of sewing. Teresa wants to share her vast knowledge with others who want to learn how to sew. Smart Sewing want to bring this forgotten skill back to life and are delighted that it’s now really in fashion for people to redesign or repair their own clothes and make their own accessories.
There are sewing courses to suit all abilities and ages, from the complete beginner who is completely new to sewing to those who want to design and make their own clothes. Many of our courses are FETAC accredited. We also have classes for children because smart kids sew.
Teresa has completed work for leading designers such as John Rocha, Michael H, Michelle Ambers,and Jan Kelly. Some of her work on their behalf has featured on the Late Late Show.
  
Work Experience/Skills:
I have run courses successfully for the Carlow Leader and Teach Breid in Tullow with two more follow up courses in Home Furnishings. Havingworked in the clothing trade for over 30 years I am very interested in sharing my vast experience. I believe the home based dressmaker is a dying breed. I am saddened by this and I am dedicated to rewaken an interest in this lost skill.
I am trained to work on all aspects of garment construction. During the early part of my career I focused on learning every aspect of garment making, from the cutting room to the finishing room. I also became proficient in the use of the various sewing machines required to produce a quality garments. I then completed a course on design pattern making at Parnell College. After which, I was promoted to Supervisor and trainer. I also had the good fortune to make samples for renowned designers such as John Rocha, Michael H, Michelle Ambers,and Jan Kelly. Some of these samples were featured on the Late Late Show and Futura.

We specialise in teaching a new skill and teaching a new hobby. We've been delivering high quality classes to students in the Carlow area and beyond, building a reputation for excellence.
